Why Everett photographs so well

Everett sits on Port Gardner Bay, with the Snohomish River curving around its north and east edges. There’s water on almost every side of town, and on clear evenings the Olympic Mountains line up across Puget Sound. For a photographer that means west-facing light over the water at golden hour, and soft, even light on overcast days that flatters everyone.

Everett is also a real city. Downtown has historic brick storefronts and quiet side streets, and the north end is full of older homes under big trees. Couples who want a little urban edge and a little coastline can have both in one afternoon.

Engagement session spots I love in Everett

Grand Avenue Park

A bluff-top park in the north end with wide views over Port Gardner Bay. Sunset here is hard to beat, and the pedestrian bridge that drops down toward the waterfront adds a clean, modern backdrop.

Jetty Island

A sandy island just off the Everett waterfront, reached by a seasonal passenger ferry in summer. You get beach portraits without the drive to the coast. The ferry runs on a summer schedule that changes year to year, so we confirm dates before we plan around it.

The waterfront and marina

Boardwalks, sailboat masts and open water, with easy parking and plenty of options if the weather turns.

Downtown Everett

Historic brick, painted signs and tucked-away corners for couples who love a city look. Pair it with a waterfront stop and you have two very different galleries from one session.

Timing and light

Around the summer solstice, sunset in the Puget Sound region comes after 9 p.m., which gives summer weddings long, gentle evenings for portraits. In December the sun sets around 4:20 p.m., so winter couples do best with portraits earlier in the day or a first look before the ceremony. I build every timeline around the light at your ceremony location.

And yes, it rains. I scout covered spots ahead of time, bring clear umbrellas and treat moody skies as part of the story. Some of my favorite images were made on grey days.

Questions

Do you know Everett wedding venues?

I’m based in Snohomish County and photograph weddings throughout the area. If you’re choosing between venues, I’m happy to talk through light, layout and timing for each one on our call.

When should we book?

Summer Saturdays go first. Reach out as soon as you have a date or a short list of dates. I’m now booking 2027.

Can our engagement session be somewhere outside Everett?

Of course. Pick a place that means something to you two. Your favorite trail, the coffee shop where you met or the tulip fields up north all work.

Getting married somewhere else?

I photograph weddings all over Snohomish County and Washington, and I’m happy to travel.
