The look of a Snohomish wedding
The Snohomish Valley is farm country. Open fields, old barns, long tree lines and the Cascade foothills on the horizon. Many of the area’s wedding venues sit on farmland, which means golden fields in summer, harvest color in fall and big skies all year.
The town itself is just as photogenic. Historic downtown Snohomish runs along First Street above the Snohomish River, lined with brick storefronts and antique shops. It’s why Snohomish calls itself the Antique Capital of the Northwest, and it makes a perfect backdrop for engagement sessions and getting-ready portraits.
Engagement session ideas around Snohomish
First Street and the riverfront
Brick walls, vintage signs and the river trail a few steps away. Great for couples who want a classic, slightly nostalgic feel.
The Centennial Trail
The Centennial Trail begins in Snohomish and runs north through the county. Its tree-lined stretches and farm views are easy to reach and lovely in evening light.
Valley farm roads
Fields and barns at golden hour. When a spot is on private property, we get permission first. Every time.
Fall farm season
October brings pumpkin patches and harvest color across the valley. Fall sessions here are some of the warmest-looking galleries of the year.
Planning a farm or barn wedding
Ask your venue where the sun sets relative to the ceremony site. Open fields have little shade at midday, so ceremonies later in the afternoon photograph softer and keep your guests from squinting. Barn interiors can be dim, so string lights and candles do double duty: they set the mood and they help your reception photos.
Fall and early-spring mornings can bring fog to the valley floor. If you’re open to an early start, it makes for dreamy first-look portraits.
